JAPANESE LANGUAGE TEACHING
“ACHIEVE 3 ‘CANs’”
Educational goal of Sankou Japanese Language School is to achieve “3 CANs” while the students are studying in our school. Through the process of aiming to the goal, we, the school staff, are willing to support our students so that they are able to achieve “SELF-REALIZATION” that appears in the page of “About SJLS”.
① “I can gain the competence of Japanese that is equivalent to N2 Pass by the time of graduation.”
The purpose of learning the Japanese language varies with people. “I want to continue my higher education in Japan.”, “I want to find a job in Japan and earn money.”, or “I want to make many friends in Japan.” In every case, enough competence of Japanese is essential. In SJLS, our goal about the Japanese language is to gain the competence of Japanese that is equivalent to the N2 Pass. Thinking about doing higher education and finding employments, the proficiency of Japanese equivalent to the N2 Pass is the minimum requirement.
② “I can think about what to do and move by myself in order to achieve my goal.”
It is possible for everyone to make an effort only one time. It is also an important ability that you are able to keep making efforts. If you have this ability, you will be able to succeed in any society.
At first we, the school staff, will do everything at first when a student asks us for some support. However we shift from “doing everything instead of students” to “teaching how to deal with the matter”. Thinking about being independent, we are sure that it is more important to “teach how to catch fish”, rather than “giving fish”. Through this process of our instruction, we will aim at achieving our 2nd “CAN”.
③ “I can adopt myself to the Japanese society.”
The ability to adopt yourselves to the Japanese society is also essential so that you can promote your study of the Japanese language and live in the Japanese society. In SJLS, we teach our students about “If you do this, your partner will be happy.” and also “If you do this, you will lose your trust.” If you understand and can practice this, many chances will be given to you in the Japanese society.
In SJLS, we conduct our classes and give instructions strictly and sometimes kindly so that we can achieve our goal of “3 CANs”. We provide international students with appropriate lessons and international residents living in our local community.
•General Japanese for international students.
General Japanese consists of 2 courses, 2 years (April entrance), and 1 year and 6 months (October entrance). These courses are provided for international students who wish to go on to higher education or to get employed by Japanese companies.
From entrance to graduation, students receive lessons 4 hours a day, 800 hours a year, so that they can achieve in examinations such as JLPT (Japanese Language Proficiency Test) and EJU (Examination for Japanese University Admission for International Students) and job hunting. The goal of SJLS is that all students obtain N2 of JLPT by the time of graduation.
We provide not only Japanese lessons but also many other opportunities such as seasonal events like cherry blossom viewing, the Star Festival, the New Year , hiking and excursions so that students can enjoy their study life in Japan. As international students are permitted to work part-time within 28 hours a week, you will be able to spend a satisfying private time.
